I made these pieces after being laid off. I needed to make something that I could feel good about that was just for me. Little did I know then that this would all lead to me going back to school to complete my BFA and eventually to realizing I wanted to become a tattoo artist. At the time I was completely terrified and had no idea what I was doing. I am the kind of person who likes to have a plan. I may not always follow it, but so long as I have a guideline, I can move forward.
I didn’t have any plan, I felt like I was free falling. But it was also sort of a relief, and a practice in trusting the process that I desperately needed to learn, even if it really sucked at the time.
